About the Project
onemkts (One Markets) is a global e-commerce marketplace connecting vendors and customers across borders, and the largest codebase I've worked on. The platform features live streaming for product showcases, real-time messaging between buyers and sellers, a full vendor management portal, and multi-currency/multi-language support. Built with a NestJS API and Next.js frontend across a storefront and two admin consoles, it supports sophisticated RBAC, order fulfillment workflows, and internationalization.
Key Highlights
- Integrated Agora for live-selling broadcasts and Mux for on-demand product video
- Built real-time messaging system with Socket.io for buyer-seller communication
- Implemented full vendor portal with product management, order fulfillment, and analytics
- Added multi-provider AI features behind a single abstraction — OpenAI, Groq, and Google Generative AI
- Designed multi-currency pricing, Stripe payments, next-intl localization, and social auth (Google/Apple) for global transactions
Technical Challenges
Integrating live streaming with e-commerce workflows — allowing viewers to purchase products mid-stream — required careful state synchronization between the streaming session, product inventory, and checkout flow. The real-time bidding and purchase system needed to handle concurrent actions without race conditions, which I solved with Redis-backed locks and Bull queues for the fulfillment side.
