About the Project
PropVista (built as PropConnect) is a Nigerian real estate platform covering property listings, search, agent profiles, and the enquiry-to-booking path. It spans four applications: an Express and MongoDB API, a Next.js client for buyers and renters, an admin console for listing moderation and agent management, and a React Native mobile app. The client carries a full authenticated area — a seeker dashboard with saved listings, enquiries, bookings, and notifications — alongside the public listing, agent directory, and blog.
Key Highlights
- Built the API across thirteen route modules — properties, search, agents, favourites, bookings, payments, preferences, file uploads, blog, and role-based admin
- Shipped a complete auth flow: signup, email verification by token, login, and password reset, with role-based access separating seekers, agents, and admins
- Built the seeker dashboard covering saved listings, enquiries, bookings, and notifications, so a property search survives across sessions
- Built the React Native mobile app against the same API as the web client, keeping one contract for both surfaces
- Added rate limiting on the public API to protect listing data against scrapers
Technical Challenges
Property listings are a moderation problem as much as an engineering one — duplicate, stale, and fraudulent listings are endemic in the Nigerian market, and a platform that shows a flat that was let three months ago loses the user permanently. Most of the interesting work was in the admin tooling and the role model: making it fast for a moderator to spot a duplicate and act, and drawing a hard line between what an agent can publish and what only an admin can approve.
